Howdy!

February 16th, 2013 at 05:53 pm

Finally decided to sign up! Long time lurker that has been following many of your blogs and using lots of wonderful advice. Things are tight since having to take on an added expense of a used(new to me) car payment among other things. Looking for some free online budgeting software that's reputable if anyone has any suggestions that would be great! I use to be into couponing but I'm having a hard time finding them for healthy food items. We frequent Aldis and Sam's but I have to be careful in the latter because I can spend way to much in there! Hope everyone is having a wonderful Saturday!

    Hi, there, and welcome.

You're right about coupons; rarely do I find any I can use. I try to avoid food in a box as unhealthy crap as much as possible. My suggestion would be to consider a BJs membership if you have one in your area. I've found they have much more organic fresh produce than Costco, and of course there's a pretty good price savings compared to conventional supermarkets. You can split a membership with a friend and get a year's membership for $20.

Welcome! I'm a North Texan too!

As far as budgeting software - Mint.com is free. There is "You Need A Budget" - but I believe it is $60.00. I personally use a good ol' fashioned Excel Spreadsheet. I base my budget off of Gail Vaz Oxlade and do the jar method. She has free resources on her website www.gailvazoxlade.com.

Hope you love SA as much I do.

rachel21406- Hello fellow North Texan! Thanks for the info I will check out those sites!
